BC Freshwater Fishing License
On September 6, 2007, the B.C. Government launched a new e-licensing service to make it easier than ever for anglers to purchase a BC Freshwater Fishing License. This service is now available at www.fishing.gov.bc.ca. We are inviting anglers to give the system a try. Before you head out to your favourite fishing spot, make sure that you have your BC Freshwater Fishing Licence.
Did you know? 100% of your licence fees directly benefit recreational fisheries. Licence revenue goes to the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC, funding research, conservation and education programs, improving angler access and the provincial stocking program.
The Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation receives 100% of the surcharge revenue collected from angling licence sales to provide grants for fish conservation projects.
A BC Freshwater Fishing Licence is available in a range of options from single day to annual licences that last all year, from
April 1 through March 31st.
The BC Freshwater Fishing Licence does not include fishing in British Columbia’s coastal tidal waters. Tidal (saltwater) fishing regulations and licences are under the jurisdiction of the Canadian federal government. In addition to the licence, anglers are required to be aware of the BC Freshwater Fishing License Regulations.
All freshwater sport fishing regulations in effect in British Columbia, (except for salmon fishing and fishing in National Parks), are published every two years as the Regulations Synopsis. Anglers should become familiar with these regulations before going fishing.
